Visiting Thailand Part 1: Temples of Bangkok

Good morning!! After living five months in Bangkok I had the chance to know quite well the city and another parts of the country. That's why I want to do a little guide just in case you want to visit the land of smiles. This first post is going to be about the temples of Bangkok, which are one of the main tourist attractions of the of the city. There are hundreds, but I will only mention the main and those that I really liked.

1. Grand Palace

The grand palace, the main temple of Bangkok. Definitely a must see! You will find a lot of people around the palace telling you that the palace is closed, that you can't go inside with that clothes... etc, but do not listen, they are trying to cheat you, just to sell you some of their excursions. It is mandatory to go in with the shoulders and legs covered, but you have the option of renting some clothes if you don't wear the proper attire. (they will give you the money back). If you want to rent the audio guide they will ask for your passport as a deposit. Approximate Running Time: 3 hours

In this temple you will find the reclining buddha and a lot of "small" buddha figures. Also they have a massage school inside where you will be able to have a massage. The price is a little bit expensive comparing with another centers, that's why I don't recommend you. It is mandatory to go in with the shoulders and legs covered, but you have the option of renting handkerchiefs if you don't wear the proper attire. Approximate Running Time: 1 hour

Located on the bank of the Chao Phraya river is definitely my favorite. Firstly because it look really nice from the other side of the river when the dusk, and secondly, there is an amazing view of the city from the second level. It is mandatory to go in with the shoulders and legs covered, but you have the option of renting handkerchiefs if you don't wear the proper attire. Approximate Running Time: 1 hour

4. The Golden Budha

Located on the center of China Town. I didn't really like this temple, but I think that is a mandatory stop to see this 5 tons golden buddha. You will have to choose between two different tickets: just to see to golden buddha, or to see the buddha plus another 2 rooms of the temple. I recommend you the first opcion. It is mandatory to go in with the shoulders and legs covered, but you have the option of renting handkerchiefs if you don't wear the proper attire. Approximate Running Time: 15 min
